Appointment of Non-Executive Director
The Board of Rex Minerals (Rex) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Mitch Hooke to the role of
Non-Executive Director, effective 4 August 2015.
Mr Hooke is globally recognised for his in-depth knowledge and strategic leadership in both Australian and global public policy advocacy as well as practical operational issues affecting various industries contributions to national social and economic welfare.
Mr Hooke retired as Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA) at the end of 2013, a position he had held since June 2002. This brought to a close just over a quarter of a century of industry leadership in public policy advocacy and representation in the development of economic, social and environmental policy and practice across the agricultural, food and grocery, and mining industries in Australia and globally.
Before joining the MCA, Mr Hooke served as inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Food and Grocery Council and, prior to that, he was Executive Director of the Grains Council of Australia. Mr Hooke is born of the land and began his career as an agricultural adviser on Queensland's Darling Downs where he pioneered zero-tillage ecological farming systems.
Mr Hooke is Chairman of Partners in Performance International and a member of the Advisory Board of Partners in Performance (North America), a global management consulting firm with specialist skills and business model in performance improvement and business transformation across minerals resources, agricultural, industrial manufacturing and services industries. Mr Hooke is a Non-Executive Director of GTL Energy Ltd, a technology company in the early stages of commercialising proprietary technology to upgrade low-rank coals. He was recently appointed an Independent Director of Grain Producers Australia, the national not-for-profit body which represents Australia's broadacre grain, pulse and oilseed producers. Mr Hooke is also a Member and Director of secondary and tertiary educational institutions.
Mr Hooke was formerly a Non-Executive Director of Elgin National Industries (USA), a Chicago-based private equity global group of companies servicing the mining, minerals processing, and bulk materials handling industries in engineering and construction and industrial plant equipment. He was a Director of the Australian operations, Roberts & Schaefer, Australia. Mr Hooke was also formerly a Director of Australian Trade and Industry Alliance Pty Ltd established to promulgate cross-industry public policy.
Mr Hooke has a Bachelor's Degree in Rural Science from the University of New England. In 2010 he was awarded the University's Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of his contribution to the nation's social and economic welfare through strategic leadership and development of public policy.
