Une sortie de la zone Euro par la Grèce serait plus que catastrophique et pourrait provoquer d’importants troubles sociaux, un putsch militaire et une inflation comme celle connue par le Zimbabwe, selon la société Londoniennne de fonds spéculatif Toscafund.

Dans une note austère à ses clients, l’économiste Savvas Savouri annonçait qu’introduire une nouvelle devise immédiatement à la sortie de l’euro serait impossible et que ce retard mènerait à « des retraits massifs des dépôts bancaires et une fuite des capitaux, ce qui rendrait la situation incomparable à tout ce que nous ayons pu connaître auparavant ».

« Le terme catastrophique ne serait certainement pas suffisant » déclarait Savouri, lui-même Chypriote.
