By Chris at www.CapitalistExploits.at
Everyone's heard of "The Big Short". We've Hollywood to thank for that, and thank them I will. After all, who didn't love Margot Robbie explaining how it all worked? Even Mrs. Chris liked her.
Of course, our heroes correctly bet against these mortgage backed securities smoking piles of isht and now they all drive Porsches and eat lobsters in their bathrobes.
Likewise, everyone's heard of Jesse Livermore's famous shorting of the 1907 and 1929 markets whereWednesday, November 22, 2017 |

I’ve mentioned many times the “Prices, Interest, Money Box” that economists got themselves into beginning in the 1870s, and are still in today. The result of this, regarding the Great Depression, is Friday, August 18, 2017 |

Keep Calm and Carry On |
As I was walking through the shopping district of Kingston-on-Thames yesterday, I was wondering whether the locals had gotten the memo that the country remained on "High Alert" in light of the Manchester bombings. Here I was in the middle of an historic "village," walking across the Clattern Bridge (built in 1293) along with thousands of British shoppers, laughing and joking, sitting in pubs, talking about the rugby matches and generally going about their regular daily business as if nothing hadFriday, June 2, 2017 |

Never Play Another Man's Game |
If asked about 'the rules' of investing, Wall Street will offer endless variations, but never reveal the big one. Because to do this would point out to the legions hapless rubes (average investors) invested in the securities markets these days, that although stocks and bonds have done fabulously over the past six-years coming out of the 2008 financial crisis, still, for those who actually participated this must be looked at as good fortune more than anything else, especially considering you areMonday, April 6, 2015 |
