How Much Should Homes Cost (To Rent) |
Previously, we looked into how much homes should cost. Basically, we concluded that the cost of homes should be a function of construction costs, which are basically stable, profit and some other non-construction costs such as corporate overhead, and land costs. Since there is no particular shortage of land in any U.S. city today, there is no particular reason for very high land costs; and thus, no particular reason why homes should cost very much more than construction costs.

Christmas Story |
For your reading pleasure Mondays and Fridays
These are the long, dark hours when cis-hetero white patriarchs sit by the hearth chewing over their regrets for the fading year and expectations for the year waiting to be born. I confess, I like Christmas a lot, Hebrew that I am, perhaps the musical and sensual trappings more than the virgin birth business. Something in my mixed Teutonic blood stirs to the paganism of blazing Yule logs, fragrant fir trees, rousing carols, and snow on snow on snowMonday, December 25, 2017 |

THE DISINFORMATION WAR: The Attempt To Disregard Silver Investor Demand In The Market |
There is a Disinformation War taking place in the silver market as certain industry analysis is confusing individuals by purposely disregarding the tremendous impact of rising investment demand. Not only do I find this troubling, but I am also quite surprised how much the silver industry pays attention to this faulty analysis. So, it’s time once again to set the record straight.Setting the record straight has now become a new mission for me at the SRSrocco Report because the amount of disinforFriday, December 8, 2017 |

How Much Should Homes Cost |
How much homes cost is the most popular topic at any dinner party. But, people rarely think about how much homes should cost. If this topic is taken up at all, it is typically in the framework of “social justice”; and the solutions are typically some kind of government subsidized housing – what can be bluntly, and accurately, called: communist central planning.
So, let’s look at this from a different angle.
Construction costs are fairly well known and common throughout the United States. Cheap wWednesday, October 25, 2017 |

The Silliness of the Bretton Woods Years |
We’re continuing our look into One Nation Under Gold (2017), by James Ledbetter.
October 2, 2017: One Nation Under Gold (2017), by James Ledbetter
Ledbetter glided quickly over the period from 1914 to 1931, taking up the story again in earnest with the British devaluation of 1931 and, especially, the U.S. devaluation of 1933. This was treated with some interesting detail. However, Ledbetter made almost no mention of the fact that the U.S. returned to gold at the beginning of 1934 at $35/oz., andMonday, October 16, 2017 |

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED: The Situation In The Markets Is Much Worse Than You Realize |
By Steve St. AngeloIt’s about time that I share with you all a little secret. The situation in the markets is much worse than you realize. While that may sound like someone who has been crying “wolf” for the past several years, in all honesty, the public has no idea just how dire our present situation has become. The amount of debt, leverage, deceit, corruption, and fraud in the economic markets, financial system, and in the energy industry are off the charts. Unfortunately, the present conditThursday, September 14, 2017 |

Illinois On The Brink The Whole Country Is On The Brink - Dave Kranzler |
The biggest problem facing Illinois is the public pension fund
problem. I don’t care what the “official” number is for the degree to
which it is underfunded. I can guarantee that even without
marking-to-real-market the illiquid investments like private equity
funds, derivatives, commercial real estate trusts and other assets that
do not have truly visible markets, collectively the public pension
system in Illinois is at least 60-70% underfunded. Then apply a

We’re Good People, Really We Are! |
The disgrace of America’s putative intellectual class is nearly complete as it shoves the polity further into dysfunction and toward collapse. These are the people Nassim Taleb refers to as “intellectuals-yet-idiots.” Big questions loom over this dynamic: How did the thinking class of America sink into this slough of thoughtlessness? And why – what is motivating them?
One path to understanding it can be found in this sober essay by Neal Devers, The Overton Bubble, published two years ago on TheFMonday, July 10, 2017 |

Massive Central Bank Asset Purchases: Last Ditch Effort To Save Economy Cap Silver-Gold Prices |
The Central banks bought a staggering $1.5 trillion in assets in the first five months of the year to keep the economy from imploding while at the same time, capping the gold price. Yes, it’s true…. $300 billion a month of Central bank asset purchases pushes up STOCK, BOND and REAL ESTATE values while it depresses or caps the gold (or silver) price. The amount of Central bank asset purchases are now reaching insane levels. How To Improve Your Odds Of Surviving If A Massive Catastrophe Hits Your City |
This guide was originally published by Joshua Krause at ReadyNutrition.com
The main thread that seems to run through the prepper community, is that most preppers really want to get out of the cities and live a rural life. It’s easy to understand why. Most preppers rightfully believe that the cities would be the most dangerous places to be if society collapsed. Rural areas are generally safer, have less burdensome governance, and provide the opportunity to gain some degree of self-sufficiency.

The Process of Urban Change |
It seems like people don’t have much of an idea of how cities change. It is mostly done by private individuals (and corporations), for profit, within the regulatory framework of the municipal government. There might be a few public elements, like a convention or sports center, or a library, but these are a small portion of buildings as a whole. Governments are certainly responsible for things like streets (and there has been a lot of talk about redesigning Arterials or adding things like streetSunday, May 7, 2017 |

France: A divided nation decides |
FT/Anne-Sylvaine Chassany/05-05-17
Sunday’s presidential duel pits Mr Macron against Ms Le Pen and their clash of visions for the eurozone’s second-largest economy. Opinion polls suggest he will win but the fight for office has exposed a divided country: one part happy, the other unhappy; one urban, the other rural and suburban; one embracing internationalism, the other seeking to erect barriers. They are the same faultlines shaking other western democracies, splitting those who feel they have gSaturday, May 6, 2017 |

Musktopia Here We Come! |
It ought to be sign of just how delusional the nation is these days that Elon Musk of Tesla and Space X is taken seriously. Musk continues to dangle his fantasy of travel to Mars before a country that can barely get its shit together on Planet Earth, and the Tesla car represents one of the main reasons for it — namely, that we’ll do anything to preserve, maintain, and defend our addiction to incessant and pointless motoring (and nothing to devise a saner living arrangement).

Racket of Rackets |
If you thought banking in our time was a miserable racket — which it is, of course, and by “racket” I mean a criminal enterprise — then so-called health care has it beat by a country mile, with an added layer of sadism and cruelty built into its operations. Lots of people willingly sign onto mortgages and car loans they wouldn’t qualify for in an ethically sound society, but the interest rates and payments are generally spelled out on paper. They know what they’re signing on for, even if the conFriday, March 31, 2017 |
