TORONTO (AP) _ Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) on Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings of $19 million.
The Toronto-based company said it had net income of 8 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, were 16 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 12 cents per share.
The gold mining company posted revenue of $537.6 million in the period.
Agnico shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
