Airborne Surveys Completed in Athabasca Basin - Uranium North Resources' Exploration Season Underway
Vancouver, B.C-April 19, 2007 - Uranium North Resource Corp. (TSX-V: UNR) announces that a deep penetrating airborne survey has been completed on the 100% owned Carswell East and Beatty River properties in the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan.
The objective of the 2076 line-kilometre Fugro MEGATEM survey is to identify basement conductors that could be associated with uranium mineralization at or near the unconformity, a relationship will established in the Athabasca Basin. MEGATEM conductors have already been identified by other exploration companies near the Carswell and Beatty claims. Final data and initial interpretation is expected within 6 weeks providing enough time for follow-up surveying in preparation for drilling if required.
"We believe this portion of the Western Athabasca has considerable uranium potential given that it is located near significant occurrences such as those on the Shea Creek property and at the former Cluff Lake. We are looking forward to receiving final data for this survey because any conductors could advance these properties to a drill-ready stage." States Mark Kolebaba President of Uranium North.
The Carswell East block straddles the eastern portion of the uranium-bearing Carswell Structure. The past-producing Cluff Lake Mine is located along this structure and is approximately 20 kilometres west of the property. The UNR claim block is surrounded by claims held by Areva Resources Canada Ltd. and other uranium explorers.
The Beatty River block overlaps the Beatty River Fault Zone, a northeast-southwest trending zone which may have controlled uranium mineralization in the area. This block is approximately 20 kilometres east of the Collette deposit on the Shea Creek property where Areva Resources Canada Ltd. and UEX reported drill core assays of 27.4% and 12.57% U3O8 over 8.8 and 11.9 metres respectively.
This is the first survey completed by Uranium North, marking the beginning of an active and exciting exploration program for 2007.
Jeremy Brett, M.Sc. (P.Geo) of MPH Consulting Limited will serve as Uranium North's Qualified Person for this project as defined under NI 43-101.
Uranium North Resources is a discovery-stage uranium exploration company with clear and immediate growth potential.
