Toronto, Ontario (15 June 2010): Northern Gold
Mining Inc. ("Northern Gold" or "the Company")
(TSX-V: NGM) announces today the assay results of twelve surface grab
samples from a new mineralized showing ["the 1070 Vein"],
which appears to be the eastward extension of the shaft zones. Six of
the twelve samples contained visible gold and graded from 4.53 g/t to
93.89 g/t gold. See the table below for complete results. As part of
the Company's current Phase II drill program, Northern Gold continues
to explore and prospect the Garrison property.

Initial
sampling on the 1070 vein was over a distance of roughly 20 metres
along strike, but the 1070 vein has now been traced on surface over a
30 metre distance and continues further along strike. The 1070
vein is located roughly 300 meters east of the Garrcon shaft and
another 100 meters further east along strike from the Shaft zones
previously drill tested by hole GAR-09-06.
"These
high-grade surface assay results, along with the presence of visible
gold, demonstrate the significant potential of the Garrison
property," said Martin Shefsky, President and CEO of the Company.
"With these results, Northern Gold has initiated a surface
stripping program to investigate the 1070 Vein as well as two other
areas of interest at the Garrcon prospect. Surface stripping is
expected to last 2-3 weeks, involving detailed geological mapping and
systematic channel sampling of the vein and refinement of diamond drill
targets east of the main Garrcon shaft zones with the goal to add this
mineralized zone to our overall resource estimate."
The 10,000
meter Phase II diamond drill program currently underway at the Garrcon
prospect commenced 10 May 2010 and targets the North, Shaft, and South
zones. The drill program is testing bulk tonnage open-pit gold
mineralization at the Garrcon prospect. To date seven holes have been
completed, totaling 1616 metres. Visible gold mineralization has been
observed in all holes. Samples for the first three holes have been sent
to Swastika Labs for assay and results are expected in the next week,
after which interpretation and reporting can begin.
Northern
Gold is in the first year of an option agreement under which it is
earning its interest in the Garrison gold property from ValGold Resources
Ltd. ("ValGold", TSX-V: VAL). For more information on the
option agreement, please see the Company's news release dated 14
September 2009.
Northern
Gold Mining Inc. has implemented a quality assurance and control
(QA/QC) program to ensure sampling and analysis of all exploration work
is conducted in accordance with the best possible practices. The rock
samples collected were sent to Swastika Laboratories in Swastika,
Ontario, and analyzed using the appropriate gold fire assaying
technique. Sample standards and blanks are inserted into the sample
stream at every 20th sample, to ensure at least one standard
or blank is included in each analytical run at the lab. This ensures
lab integrity. Approximately 5% of sample rejects and/or pulps
will be sent to a lab other than Swastika Laboratories for check
assaying. Every 35th sample is duplicated by quarter cutting
the core to check on analytical variation with half core samples.
This Press
release has been reviewed by Brad Leonard P. Geo., exploration manager
for Northern Gold Mining Inc., who is the "Qualified Person"
as defined by NI 43-101 for this project.
