Bactech Announces Board Changes

Toronto, February 8, 2007 - BacTech Mining Corporation ("BacTech" or
the "Company") is pleased to announce that David Stevens and Peter
Coleman have joined the Company's Board of Directors. Messrs. Stevens
and Coleman replace Directors Peter Ironside and Geoffrey Donohue, who
tendered their resignations after more than eight years of service to
the Company.
Mr. Stevens has over 40 years of international and domestic exploration
experience, having served as a senior corporate exploration executive
for 22 of those years. He was Vice President of Exploration for
Noranda and Senior Vice President of Independence Mining Company and
its predecessor, Freeport-McMoRan Gold Company. Before joining
Freeport, he spent 10 years in the international minerals exploration
division of Exxon.
Peter Coleman is the President and CEO of the National Citizens
Coalition, a member-driven government watchdog. Mr. Coleman brings
additional financial experience and expertise to the Board, and will
play an important role in helping the Company advance its business
strategy.

industry network and knowledge base to help the Company develop new
opportunities, while Peter Coleman's expertise will strengthen our
financial and governance best practices."
BacTech continues to build its management team with both mining and
financial experience to augment the Company's strong technical base.
The Company remains committed to leveraging its technical experience,
but will also move forward in its assessment of more traditional
mineral exploration/development opportunities.
CORPORATE PROFILE
BacTech has developed and patented bacterial oxidation technology for
the treatment of refractory ores and concentrates to enhance the
recovery of gold, silver and base metals. BacTech has successfully
commissioned three bioleach plants for gold and demonstrated its
technology in the selective recovery of base metals from complex
sulphide concentrates in a joint project with Industrias Pe�oles de
C.V. of Mexico that was completed in 2001. The Company's focus is the
acquisition of equity positions in projects amenable to bioleaching.
Recently, the Company expanded its focus through the establishment of a
uranium Joint Venture with Quinto Mining Corp. in Quebec.
