Unico, Inc. Announces Completed Electrical Connection from Main Substation to Secondary Substation to Power the Mill and Processing Facility at the Deer Trail Mine
Issued Thursday September 13, 9:37 am ET
All Remaining Components for the Secondary Substation are Delivered and Prepped for Installation
SAN DIEGO, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep. 13, 2007--Unico, Incorporated (OTC BB: UCOI), a natural resource company in the precious metals mining sector, today provided additional updates on the progress of electrical work at the Deer Trail Mine, including work to complete the secondary substation that will supply power to the Deer Trail mill and processing facility. The progress also includes completion of the connection from the main electrical substation to the secondary substation.
A new photo gallery showing the work at the secondary substation and additional electrical connections is expected to be added to the Media section of the Unico website, http://www.unicomining.com, in the next several days.
The progress at the secondary substation includes the installation of the fencing and gates that provide protection around the substation. The main 1200-amp breaker and the 800-amp disconnects have arrived at the site and are now installed in the disconnect panel at the secondary substation. The distribution wire used to take the 480-volt from the secondary transformer to the 1200-amp panel has also been delivered. The distribution panels that will feed the motor control centers throughout the main and new mill buildings have been delivered and installation is scheduled within the next several days. The copper wire that will move the 480-volt power from the 1200-amp disconnect to the distribution panels has also been delivered and is ready for installation.
Upon installation of the distribution panel, the main substation will be energized. There will be a waiting period of approximately three days before the power is sent to the secondary substation, so that the main transformer has a sufficient opportunity to warm up. A tentative date for the main substation to be energized has been established.
The main substation, secondary substation, and the electrical connections made to both were completed with the assistance of electrical contractor Cache Valley Electric (www.cve.com), one of the largest electrical contractors in the western United States.
The main substation will supply the 1.5 megawatts of power required to operate the mill and processing facility at the Deer Trail Mine. An additional megawatt of excess power capacity is available for future upgrades to the system, including power for mining activities at the Deer Trail property and other Unico claims in the area.
"Establishing the connection from the main substation to the secondary substation is another important step in completing the remaining electrical work that will provide power to the mill and processing facility at the Deer Trail Mine," said Mark A. Lopez, chief executive officer of Unico. "With the interconnection to the main substation and the connection between the main substation and the secondary substation now complete, we look forward to the installation of the final components at the secondary substation and the completion of all remaining electrical connections so that power will be available for the start-up of operations at the mill facility."
Unico recently completed the purchase of the Deer Trail Mine for its Deer Trail Mining Company subsidiary.
