ASX AND MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT
14 June 2007
Aviva
Corporation Limited (ASX:AVA), announces the appointment of PB Power (PB)
to the role of Owner’s Engineer for the development of a 2 x 200MW power
station in the Mid West Region of Western Australia.
The first
phase of the development project will be a feasibility study to be completed in
October 2007. PB’s Power division will undertake capital cost and
plant performance estimates, electricity revenue analysis and financial
modelling.
Phase 2 will
commence later this year and will include EPC contracts, resource supply,
regulatory approvals, project planning and off-take contracts.
PB has extensive
experience in the planning design and documentation of power infrastructure
required to deliver major power projects throughout Australia. All aspects of major
project delivery — from inception through to final construction and
commissioning — are fully supported by the range of skills and experience
necessary to successfully deliver the engineering components for this project.
The appointment of PB as
Owner’s Engineer follows the Aviva’s recent appointment of Mr. Mark
Chatfield to the position of General Manager Energy. Aviva expects to make
further high level appointments to progress the development of an integrated
energy project at its Central West Coal project.
Mr. Chatfield, previously
engaged PB as Owner’s Engineer for the recently commissioned 750MW coal
fired Kogan Creek power project owned by CS Energy. PB also provided detailed
design assistance for the complete coal conveying, handling, and crushing
facilities at Kogan Creek.
“PB’s
experience in integrated power projects particularly those involving air
cooling, low water usage and carbon capture readiness will be invaluable to the
development of an integrated mine and power station in the mid-west region,”
said Mr. Chatfield.
