Newmac Appoints Schmidt to President, CFO at Annual General Meeting

Newmac Resources Inc.’s (TSX-V: NER, Frankfurt: N3M) “shareholders have approved all items put forth at the annual general meeting of shareholders held on Wednesday, March 20, 2008.

At a meeting of directors held subsequent to the meeting of shareholders, the directors appointed David Schmidt as the new president and chief financial officer of the company. David Hjerpe will remain the chief executive office of Newmac, and Bill Morton will remain as a director.

With the company's growth and success in 2007, it became clear to the board of directors that Mr. Hjerpe and Mr. Morton would need assistance with their duties as CEO, CFO, and president. Mr. Schmidt, who has been a director since April, 2005, brings eight years of industry experience to the table. The board is very thankful for Mr. Hjerpe’s and Mr. Morton’s efforts to date and are grateful for Mr. Schmidt's commitment to step in as president and chief financial officer and work with Mr. Hjerpe the chief executive officer to continue the growth of the company into the future.

Mr. Schmidt completed his bachelor of applied science (mining) at the University of British Columbia in May, 2000, and since then has been working as a self-employed consultant to mineral exploration and venture capital companies. He assists with financings, corporate and financial disclosure, and corporate development, including project evaluation. Mr. Schmidt is also a director of three other TSX Venture Excyhange-listed companies.
