Athabasca Basin Exploration Update
======================================================================
Vancouver, BC - Triex Minerals Corporation (TXM-TSX.V) (the "Company")
continues to actively evaluate and advance its portfolio of projects in
the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan and is pleased to provide an update
on current and upcoming programs. Approximately $4.5 million of
exploration expenditures, primarily for drill programs, is planned for
the Athabaca Basin in 2008. Property location maps are available on the
Company's website at www.triexminerals.com.
A field exploration office is now established in Saskatchewan to
support a small, diverse staff who will focus on advancing the
Company's properties in the Athabasca Basin. The office is anchored by
Dr. Charlie Harper, PhD, P.Geo., P.Eng., who joins the Company as Chief
Geologist from his position with the Saskatchewan Geological Survey.
Dr. Harper's extensive experience in the geology of Saskatchewan and
studies of uranium deposits in the Athabsca Basin will contribute
significantly in the Company's exploration efforts.
Riverlake - Highrock
Ground geophysics is well underway on the Riverlake and Highrock
properties recently optioned from Raytec Development Corporation (see
News Release dated November 20, 2007). More than 200 line-kilometres of
electromagnetic ("EM") surveys will be completed on four separate grids
in order to refine targets identified from a 2006 airborne EM survey.
This program is expected to be complete by March 2008. A 2,500 metre
first-pass drill program is planned for the fall of 2008.
Pasfield Lake
A four week ground geophysics program is underway. Approximately 70
line-kilometres of ground-based transient magnetotelluric surveys (AMT)
will be completed, followed immediately by drilling. The drill program
is slated to begin at the end of this month and will continue for as
long as ice conditions permit. Triex has a 70% interest in the
property, and is currently earning an additional 10% interest from
Thelon Ventures Ltd.
Stony Road
Following completion of the ground geophysics at Pasfield Lake, four
AMT lines will be completed on the Stony Road property. This work will
refine targets first identified by an airborne EM survey flown in 2006,
and confirmed by first-pass AMT work on the ground in the fall of 2007.
A 3,500 metre
Diamond drill program is planned for July-August, 2008 to
test two main target areas. Triex has the right to earn up to a 70%
interest in the property from Magnum Uranium Corp. (see News Release
dated May 3, 2007)
Mann Lake
A four-hole, 3,000 metre drill program commenced in November at the
Company's Mann Lake property located 25 kilometres southwest of Cameco
Corporation's McArthur River mine. To date, two holes have been
completed and two are planned for March. One of the remaining holes
will follow-up drill hole MN06-002 which intersected 90 metres of
intensely fractured, strongly bleached, and locally pervasively
illite-altered sandstone at the base of the Athabasca Group (see photos
at www.triexminerals.com). The final hole of this program will test a
second target area in the western part of the property. The Company
currently holds a 51% interest in the property, and has the right to
earn up to a 70% interest from Consolidated Abbadon Resources Ltd.
