OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ Compass Minerals International Inc. (CMP) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $13.2 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had net income of 39 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 32 cents per share.
The minerals producer posted revenue of $183.7 million in the period.
Compass expects full-year earnings to be $5.10 to $5.60 per share.
Compass shares have decreased almost 7 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $80.86, a decrease of 15 percent in the last 12 months.
