OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ Compass Minerals International Inc. (CMP) on Monday reported third-quarter net income of $87.9 million.
On a per-share basis, the Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had net income of $2.60. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 81 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 82 cents per share.
The minerals producer posted revenue of $240.5 million in the period, beating Street forecasts. Analysts expected $231.5 million, according to Zacks.
Compass shares have climbed 6 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $84.96, a rise of 10 percent in the last 12 months.
