Tri
Origin’s drilling program in progress at Red Lake Extension project, Ontario.
Tri
Origin Exploration Ltd. (TOE:TSX-V) is pleased to announce
that a drilling program to sample overburden and bedrock is in progress at the
Company’s Red Lake Extension project at Red Lake, Ontario. The program
will consist of up to 50 shallow holes using a track-mounted Sonic drill capable
of collecting continuous samples of overburden and short core samples of
bedrock at each drill site. Overburden Drilling Management Limited of Nepean, Ontario
has been contracted to conduct the program.
The program has been
designed to evaluate a large area within the 24,000 acre RLX property. The
basal till portion of overburden will be analysed for gold grain content and
assayed for base and precious metals. Drill core will be logged and assayed.
Information from both the overburden and coring portions of this program are
important to the Company. A number of target areas have been delineated by Tri
Origin’s previous work. Many remain poorly understood as no rock outcrops
occur over most of the RLX property. The gold grain content of basal till at
each of these areas will aid significantly in prioritising the most important
of these targets for detailed follow-up drilling. Core samples will allow
identification and geochemical analysis of unexposed rock units similar to
those hosting the important gold deposits of the Red Lake District.
The RLX property is
located approximately 10 kilometres southeast of Goldcorp’s Red Lake
mine and adjoins the mine property. The mines at Red
Lake have produced over 20 million
ounces of gold making this one of the premier gold mining districts in Canada. The
“mine trend” structural corridor has been defined by Tri Origin to
extend from the Red
Lake mine southeast
across the central portion of Tri Origin’s property.
At 24,000 acres, RLX is
the largest previously unexplored portion of the Red Lake
greenstone belt. Previous work by Tri Origin has included prospecting,
geological, geochemical and geophysical surveying and preliminary diamond
drilling. To date, only a small portion of the property has been explored and
exciting targets have been delineated. Management intends to continue to
systematically evaluate new targets across the property. Results from the
current program are expected during August at which time a follow-up program
will commence.
