Drilling Update at Akie Property
Vancouver,
B.C. August 15, 2007 Mantle Resources Inc. (TSX Venture: MTS; Frankfurt:
A0F7E1 (Mantle or the Company) is pleased to provide an update on the 2007 drill
program at its Akie property in northeastern
British Columbia. The program commenced with one drill rig on
June 23, and since that time two additional machines have been brought on line.
All three drill rigs are in operation and are positioned to further test the
Cardiac Creek Zone (CCZ). This work is being carried out by Rodren
Drilling Ltd. of West St. Paul, Manitoba.
Three
holes have been completed on the CCZ for a total of 1,925.74 meters and
all have intersected the zinc-lead mineralized horizon. The first hole
(A-07-42) was designed to probe the extension, for a distance of some 200 meters to the north,
of the high grade mineralization encountered in an earlier hole (A-05-32/2005)
which yielded a true width (TW) of 8.44 meters grading 16.16% zinc and 3.95% lead.
The other two holes (A-07-43 and A-07-45) were drilled from a new pad, located
some 500 meters
to the south, to test the continuity of this high grade mineralization between
two earlier holes (A-05-30 and A-05-33/both 2005). In addition to these three
holes, one hole has been completed, to a depth of 221.28 meters, in the
South Zinc Anomaly and core from this is currently being logged.
At
present, one rig, currently at 155 meters, is tasked to drill a second
step-out hole, collared some 200
meters to the north of hole A-07-42, with the objective
of further extending the high grade mineralization; the target depth is 650 to 675 meters. The
remaining rigs are engaged in drilling in-fill holes up-dip (approximately 85 meters) from the
mineralized intercepts encountered in two earlier holes (A-06-38 and
A-06-39A/2006); target depths are 350 to 380 meters.
About the Akie
Property
The
Akie zinc-lead property is situated within the
southern-most part (Kechika Trough) of the regionally
extensive Paleozoic Selwyn Basin, one of the most
prolific sedimentary basins in the world for the occurrence of SEDEX
zinc-lead-silver and stratiform barite deposits.
Drilling
on the Akie property by Inmet
Mining Corporation during the period 1994 to 1996 and by Mantle in 2005 and
2006 has identified a significant body of baritic
SEDEX mineralization (Cardiac Creek Zone) with an average thickness of greater
than 12 meters
and an average zinc+lead content in excess of 10%.
The deposit is hosted by variably siliceous, fine grained clastic
rocks of the Middle to Late Devonian Gunsteel
formation.
Two
similar deposits, Cirque and South Cirque, located some 20 kilometers
northwest of Akie and owned by Teck
Cominco and Korea Zinc, are also hosted by Gunsteel
rocks and have a combined geologic inventory in excess of 50 million tonnes
averaging approximately 10% combined zinc+lead.
