Exploration Update
======================================================================
Vancouver, BC - Triex Minerals Corporation (TXM.V) (the "Company")
continues to actively evaluate and advance its portfolio of projects
and is pleased to provide an update of its current 2008 exploration
programs. Property details and location maps are available on the
Company's website at www.triexminerals.com.
Hornby Bay Basin Projects, Nunavut
The Company and Pitchstone Exploration Ltd. (PXP.V) have started $3.1
million program for 2008 in the Hornby Basin. The 50:50 joint venture
properties are anchored by the Mountain Lake uranium deposit which is
located 100 kilometres southwest of the coastal community of Kugluktuk,
Nunavut.
Opening up of the Kirwan Lake camp is underway, and construction of the
ice landing strip has begun.
First-pass drilling of the Mountain Lake uranium deposit was completed
during 2006 and 2007 and this year's drilling program is primarily
designed to test for additional deposits in the district. Mobilization
of the drill and crew to carry out the 5,000 metre program of diamond
drilling is planned for the third week in April. This program includes
eighteen holes to evaluate untested targets at Dismal Lakes, Jenny
Lake, Kendall River and the Helmut fault area. Resistivity surveys,
which effectively mapped stratigraphy in 2007, will be carried out
prior to the start of the drill program.
Mann Lake, Saskatchewan
The third hole of a 3,200 metre program (two holes were completed in
December, 2007) is currently being drilled to test a fixed-loop EM
conductor that occurs on the east-west structure that transects the
Mann Lake property. Holes MN06-002 and MN06-005 which intersected
elevated boron, and clay-altered Athabasca Group sandstone, are located
farther to the east along this structure. The fourth and final hole
will follow-up more closely the clay alteration intersected in hole
MN06-002 (see photos at www.triexminerals.com).
The property is located 25 kilometres southwest of Cameco Corporation's
McArthur River mine. The Company acts as Operator of the Joint Venture
with Consolidated Abbadon Resources Ltd. (ABN.V) and holds a 60%
interest in the property.
Pasfield Lake, Saskatchewan
Ground geophysics which started in January is expected to be completed
within the next two weeks. Approximately 70 line-kilometres of
ground-based transient magnetotelluric surveys (AMT) have been carried
out. Lines completed in 2007 have been extended, and additional infill
lines have been completed. Forward modeling of airborne gravity was
also completed. Together, this work has successfully defined the
eastern margin of the uplift block which is similar in geometry to the
western margin, and is equally prospective.
This geophysics has increased significantly the length of conductors
and associated shear zones on the property that warrant drill testing.
The Company's originally planned winter drill program on Pasfield Lake
has been postponed until a suitable drilling contractor can be secured.
The Company has a 70% joint venture interest in the property with
Thelon Ventures Ltd. (THV.V)
Riverlake - Highrock, Saskatchewan
A major ground geophysical program which commenced in December on the
Riverlake and Highrock properties located on the southern margin of the
Athabasca Basin is nearly complete. Cutting of more than 200
line-kilometres, on four different grids, and ground electromagnetic
("EM") surveying of three grids is complete. The fourth grid is
expected to be completed by the end of the month.
Targets are near-surface, basement-hosted uranium associated with
conductive shear zones. Soil geochemistry is planned for summer to help
prioritize targets along extensive folded and faulted conductors that
were defined by the current geophysics program. A 2,500 metre
first-pass drill program is planned for the fall of 2008. The
properties were recently optioned from Raytec Development Corporation
(see news release dated November 20, 2007).
