WTM Extends La Dura East Mineralized System to Three Kilometres
- Intersects 13.78 Metres
Grading 5.65% Combined Lead+Zinc, 23.51 g/t Silver
- Discovers New High-Grade
Silver Vein System - 522 g/t Silver
(Vancouver, January 29, 2008)
West Timmins Mining Inc. (TSX: WTM) announced today that drill results from
the Montaa de Oro Project
in Sonora, Mexico have extended the known strike length of the La Dura East
lead-zinc-silver-gold system to 3.0 kilometres. Three holes testing
the northern extension of the La Dura East system have intersected
mineralized skarn zones, with the average lead, zinc and silver grades in
holes LD07-05 and LD07-06 being more than double similar intercepts from
the southern portion of the trend.
Holes LD07-05 and LD07-06,
drilled east and west from the same setup, intersected
lead-zinc-silver-gold skarn mineralization over widths of 12.12 and 13.78
metres respectively at depths of less than 20 metres vertical. Both holes
contain a higher grade core which averages 3.08 metres and returns grades
of 10.43% combined lead+zinc, 39.97 g/t silver and 0.09 g/t gold.
Hole LD07-08, collared
approximately 100 metres to the north and 50 metres west, intersected
multiple zones of skarn mineralization over a down hole length of 245
metres. A new
silver-lead-zinc vein system was also discovered in this hole, cored by a
0.84 metre interval which returned 522 g/t silver.
"With near surface drill intercepts 3.0 kilometres apart,
mineralized widths of up to 95 metres and multiple surface occurrences, the
La Dura East discovery is shaping up as a major mineralized system,"
said Darin Wagner, President and CEO of West Timmins Mining. "Further
drill testing on broadly spaced centres along the length of the La Dura
East trend will now commence with a goal of determining the average
grade-thickness profile of this system and assessing its economic potential
as a bulk mineable target."
New plans and sections from the La Dura East Zone are available on
the Company's website at www.westtimminsmining.com.
Quality Control and Assurance
Geochemical results reported herein are from halved drill core
samples collected from the Company's Montaa de Oro project. Core sampling
is conducted on site by trained personnel and sealed samples are
transported to ALS-Chemex's preparation facilities in Hermosillo, Mexico by
employees of consulting firm Minera Cascabel S.A. de C. V. on behalf of
West Timmins Mining. Samples were assayed for gold by standard fire assay-
ICP finish with a 30 gram charge. Samples additionally underwent 34 element
ICP-MS analysis. Silver, zinc, copper and lead values in excess of 100 ppm,
1%, 1% and 1% respectively were re-analyzed by fire assay. The remaining
half of the drill core is stored in a secure facility on the project site.
For quality control purposes blank and analytical control standards were
inserted into the sample sequence at regular intervals, no discrepancies
are reported. Mr. Darin Wagner (M.Sc., P.Geo.), the Company's President,
has acted as qualified person for this news release. The qualified person
has visited the project site, examined the drill core and sampling
procedures and verified the quality control results from the project.
