TORONTO (AP) _ HudBay Minerals Inc. (HBM) on Wednesday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $255.5 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had a loss of $1.09. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 5 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 13 cents per share.
The mining company posted revenue of $336.6 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $331.4 million, or $1.41 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $886.1 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $2.60. A year ago, they were trading at $8.43.
