TORONTO (AP) _ Kinross Gold Corp. (KGC) on Wednesday reported a loss of $25 million in its second quarter.
The Toronto-based company said it had a loss of 2 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 1 cent per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 1 cent per share.
The gold mining company posted revenue of $876.4 million in the period.
Kinross Gold shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $5.01, nearly tripling in the last 12 months.
