NIOGOLD RESUMES
DRILLING IN THE MALARTIC GOLD CAMP
Val-dOr, Quebec, September 3, 2009: NioGold Mining Corporation
(TSX-V:NOX) (Frankfurt:NG1) (NioGold) is pleased to announce that it
has resumed drilling operations in the Malartic camp, Abitibi region,
Quebec.
An initial 27 exploration drill holes, for 5,000 metres, are planned to test
several priority targets identified along a four-kilometre highly prospective
segment of the Norbenite-Marbanite fault zone. The area of interest is
located immediately to the northwest and on trend with the Marban, Norlartic
and Kierens gold deposits.
Past drilling, geological mapping and mechanical stripping over the area has
outlined several zones of gold mineralisation that include the H Zone, where
intersections of up to 8.99 grams per tonne gold over 5.1 metres in hole
MH-89-09 were obtained by past operators (News Release October 1, 2008). NioGold
hole MH-08-006, completed in late 2008, which tested the Norbenite-Marbanite
fault between the Kierens deposit and the H Zone, intersected a 4.8 metre wide
section of veining and sulphide mineralisation that averaged 4.52 grams per
tonne gold over 3.6 metres (News Release March 3, 2009).
Concurrently, Mine Development Associates are advancing on the first resource
estimate on the Marban deposit as well as upgraded resource estimates on the
Norlartic and Kierens deposits reported in 2007 (News Releases June 28,
2007). Since 2006, NioGold has completed over 45,000 metres of resource
development drilling in and around the former Marban, Norlartic and Kierens
mines that collectively produced over 590,000 ounces of g! old.&nbs p; All
three deposit lie within a three kilometre segment of the Norbenite-Marbanite
fault zone.
Pump Lake Project
An airborne gravity gradient geophysical survey covering the entire Pump Lake
property was conducted in August by Bell Geospace Inc. The survey was
flown at 200-metre line spacing for a total of 1,100 line kilometres.
Bell Geospace uses state of the art technology to provide the highest
resolution airborne gravity data available (Air-FTG) and advanced data
processing. The main purpose of the gravity survey is to detect high
density bedrock anomalies, more specifically magnetite and/or sulphide
concentration. Data interpretation is pending.
The Pump Lake project is located 50 kilometres north of the Mt-Laurier uranium
district, Quebec. Pump Lake is an early stage project that displays
characteristics comparable to the iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) class of
mineral deposits. World-Class examples of IOCGs are found at Olympic Dam
and the Cloncurry district (Australia), Candelaria (Chili), Salobo (Brasil),
and the Kiruna district (Sweden). Prospecting on the project in the last
two years has led to the discovery of several iron oxide (magnetite), copper,
gold, uranium, niobium and rare earth element occurrences associated with an
alkaline-carbonatite intrusive complex.
