PROJET DE SHALES GAS : UNE PREMI?RE FRACTURATION DANS L?HISTOIRE
DU QU?BEC
Qu?bec, le 22 janvier 2008// Junex (JNX : TSXV) est heureuse d?annoncer que
les travaux de fracturation hydraulique au puits B?cancour #8 ont ?t? compl?t?s
? la mi-d?cembre afin de stimuler la formation des Shales. Un tubage de
production a ensuite ?t? mis en place et le puits g?n?re actuellement une
production de gaz naturel pendant l?auto-nettoyage qui consiste ? retirer les
fluides inject?s lors de la
fracturation. Les r?sultats finaux de ces travaux devraient
?tre connus d?ici quelques mois quand tous les fluides inject?s auront ?t?
retir?s et que toutes les donn?es du puits auront ?t? analys?es. C?est la
premi?re fois que ce type d?op?ration est r?alis? au Qu?bec dans le but
d??valuer les Shales gas, une m?thode
de production qui conna?t depuis quelques ann?es une croissance spectaculaire
aux ?tats-Unis.
En juillet 2006, Junex a sign? un partenariat
d?exploration avec un important producteur sp?cialis? dans la production
gazi?re non conventionnelle ?tats-Unis. Le partenariat touche sp?cifiquement
l??valuation de la capacit? de production gazi?re de la couche s?dimentaire des
Shales de l?Utica sur quatre blocs de permis (143 395 acres)
situ?s entre Qu?bec et Montr?al et d?tenus ? 100% par Junex. Suite ? cette
entente, le partenaire de Junex a analys? 34,15 m?tres de carottes tir?es du
puits B?cancour #8 afin d??valuer les propri?t?s chimiques et physiques de la
couche s?dimentaire des Shales de l?Utica. C?est sur la base de ces analyses
que le partenaire am?ricain a exerc? en mai 2007 son option pour aller de l?avant
dans un projet-pilote dont la premi?re ?tape ?tait la fracturation du puits
B?cancour #8.
En
plus des permis faisant partie de cette entente, Junex d?tient des droits
d?exploration sur environ 1 million d?acres nets situ?s dans le bassin
g?ologique des Basses-Terres du St-Laurent. De l?avis de Junex, tous ces
terrains sont prospectifs pour le d?veloppement de projets de Shales gas.

De plus, tel
que pr?vu au contrat de d?benture conclu le 4 mai 2006 avec
Desjardins-Innovatech, Junex entend ?mettre ? cette derni?re un total de 58 671
actions ordinaires en guise de r?glement des int?r?ts sur une d?benture
convertible non garantie. Sous r?serve de l?approbation des autorit?s
r?glementaires, les nouvelles actions seront ?mises ? un prix de 1,08$
l?action, soit le prix moyen des transactions effectu?es sur le titre de Junex
durant les 20 jours pr?c?dent la date de paiement des int?r?ts de la d?benture.
