Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines Limited Waives Proxy Cut-Off for Its Special Meeting of Shareholders to be Held on February 25, 2011

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 23, 2011) - Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines Limited (News - Market indicators) ("CLM" or the "Corporation") today announced that its Board of Directors has waived the proxy cut-off in respect of the Special Meeting of the Shareholders (the "Meeting") to be held on February 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) at the Toronto Board of Trade, 1 First Canadian Place, 77 Adelaide Street West, Toronto, ON M5X 1C1. Proxies will now be accepted up to the commencement of the Meeting on February 25, 2011.

At the Meeting, shareholders will be asked to consider the acquisition by Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. of all of the outstanding common shares of the Corporation by way of plan of arrangement (the "Arrangement") for cash consideration of $17.25 per common share. 

The completion of the Arrangement is subject, among other things, to the approval of a special resolution respecting the Arrangement by at least 66 2/3% of the votes cast at the Meeting. Shareholders are urged to carefully read the information circular mailed to them in connection with the proposed Arrangement. A copy of the information circular and the form of proxy are available at www.sedar.com. Regardless of the number of shares that a shareholder holds, each vote is important.
