Wide Drill Intercepts at Tengrela Gold Project, Ivory Coast

Highlights

• Wide-spaced Diamond drilling has intercepted extensive gold mineralisation at the Sissingue prospect to depths of at least 180m vertical.

• Hole SD003 intercepted 142.5m at 1.8g/t Au from 76.5m including 68m at 2.7g/t Au.

• Hole SD006 intercepted 105.5m at 1.9g/t Au from 54m including 77m at 2.4g/t Au.

• High grade sub-intervals from SD003 included 4m at 27.6g/t, 2m at 10g/t and 1m at 23.5g/t Au while sub-intervals from SD006 included 9m at 6.3g/t, 10m at 3.1g/t and 1m at 12.2g/t Au.

• Holes SD003 and SD006 are located within the 800m by 250m Sissingue East Zone identified by shallower RAB and RC drilling.  The Sissingue prospect has substantial resource potential as demonstrated by limited drilling to date.


Perseus Mining Limited (ASX:PRU) is pleased to announce that recent Diamond drill results have further highlighted the width and depth potential of the Sissingue East Zone, part of the large Sissingue prospect on the Tengrela gold project in Ivory Coast.  

The deeper drilling at Sissingue East has intercepted significant widths of mineralisation associated with several sub-volcanic porphyry dykes and/or sills up to 90m wide, with associated intensive sericite and silica alteration in adjacent metasediments.  The highest grades from SD003 and SD006 were obtained from the metasediments.

Significantly, drilling on section 1154160 supports the earlier interpretation that near surface mineralisation in several areas has been depleted during the weathering process or is otherwise improving with depth. 

Thirteen Diamond drill holes have now been completed and, to date of which results have been received for six holes.  Results for SD001 and SD002 were released on 12 March 2008 whilst results for holes SD003 to SD006 are summarized in Table 1 below.  The Diamond drill program is now to be expanded and a second rig is en route to Ivory Coast. 

The flow of Tengrela assay results is improving after build up drilling momentum in February with three drill rigs - one Diamond, one RC and one RAB, currently working on the 884 sq km Tengrela project which covers 60km of strike along the Syama gold belt.
