Winner Production
Commenced Oct. 14 - First Month Ore
Deliveries Grade 6.6% Ni, September 2007 Quarterly Update
Lanfranchi Nickel
Mine, Kambalda District of Western Australia
Vancouver, B.C. - Brilliant Mining Corp. (BMC: TSXV)
(“Brilliant” or the “Company”) today reported that
production from the high-grade Winner orebody
commenced on October 14, 2007 and provided an ore delivery summary for the
Quarter ending September 30, 2007 (“September 2007 Quarter”) from
its 25% owned Lanfranchi Nickel Mine, located in
the world class Kambalda Nickel District of Western
Australia.
Key Point Summary:
- Winner
ore production commences, ore deliveries total 2,600 tonnes of ore grading 6.6% Ni for 172 tonnes of Ni metal
- September
2007 Quarterly ore delivery steady at 52,523 tonnes of ore grading 2.08%
Ni for 1,098
tonnes of Ni metal
- Lanfranchi Mine on target to produce
8,000 tonnes of Ni metal for the July 07 – June 08 production year
“The commencement of production from the high-grade Winner orebody is the successful culmination of 12 months of
development” states John Williamson, CEO of Brilliant Mining “The
ability to source ore from multiple ore bodies is a critical milestone in
achieving our production goals”.
Quarterly Production
The Lanfranchi JV delivered 52,523 tonnes of ore
with an average grade of 2.08% Ni for 1,093t Ni contained during the three
months ending September 30, 2007. The past three quarters reflect steady
production from the Helmut South orebody during a
period where the majority of the workforce has been focused on capital
development to access additional sources of ore (i.e. two out of three mine
crews dedicated to Winner, Deacon and Lanfranchi
Extension development).

Winner High-grade Orebody
Ore production from the high-grade Winner orebody
commenced on October 14, 2007 contributing 2,600 tonnes of ore grading 6.6%
Ni for 172 tonnes of contained Ni metal and will be included in the
subsequent December 2007 quarterly production figures. Ore sourced from
Winner will be a key component for future growth with global production for
the Lanfranchi Nickel Mine on track to reach the
forecast production level of approximately 8,000 tonnes of contained Ni metal
for 2007/08 (June mine year end).
Lanfranchi
Orebody
To date, 50 holes totalling 5,808 metres have been completed as part of
the Lanfranchi extension underground resource
delineation drill program. Assay results from 23 previously unreleased drill
holes are listed in Table 2 below. Nickel sulphide mineralization has been
extended 80 metres
down plunge from the lowest production level and across widths exceeding 200 metres. The Lanfranchi Nickel deposit remains open at depth and
drilling is ongoing.
Grades and thicknesses encountered in the drill program are consistent
with past production experience at Lanfranchi.
Under the previous operator, the Lanfranchi deposit
produced 1.4 million tonnes of ore grading 2.32% Ni, along a 1.4km plunge
extent, with true thickness generally ranging from 1 to 3 metres. Mining widths
across the deposit have historically ranged between 100 to 200 metres.
Six drill holes along the western margin of the drill program have
intersected broad intervals of high-grade massive nickel sulphide
mineralization. Results for three highlighted holes are 24.1m grading 5.37%
Ni from LAN127, 13.8m grading 7.46% Ni from LAN137 and 33m grading 11.3% Ni
from LAN148. An initial interpretation suggests a very low intercept
angle for the intersections with the mineralization situated in the footwall
basalt sequence marginally below the normal ultramafic/basalt
contact target horizon and with an estimated true thickness of 1-2 metres. The
massive Ni sulphide zone appears open both up and down-plunge and possibly to
the west. Once the program is completed all results will be modeled for a better understanding of the extent and
orientation of this high-grade mineralized zone.

Production Forecast 2007/08(i)
The preliminary production forecast for the high-grade Lanfranchi
Nickel Mine is 8,000 tonnes (17.6 million lbs) contained Ni metal in 2007/08
(12 months ending June 08) based on approximately 300,000 tonnes of ore
deliveries at 2.65% Ni. This forecast represents a 50% increase on the
2006/07 (12 months ending June 07) actual ore deliveries from the Lanfranchi Mine of 5,189 tonnes of Ni metal.
The main factors contributing to the significant ramp-up in production
are:
- Ore from the now producing Winner orebody(1)
with a reserve grading 4.28% Ni; and
- Ore
from Deacon(2) with an indicated resource grading 3.09% scheduled for
first development ore production November 2007 and first longhole stope ore
production March 2008.
Production Target 2008/09(i)
Based on the previously delineated resource and reserve inventory, the recent
exploration success at Lanfranchi and Deacon, and
the continued investment in plant and infrastructure the Lanfranchi
Nickel Mine’s potential production target for the 2008/09 (12 months
ending June 09) operating year is approximately 13,250 tonnes (29.2 million
lbs) contained Ni metal. This forecast represents a 150% increase on
the 2006/07 (12 months ending June 07) actual ore deliveries. This rate
of production is achievable provided the ramp-up at Deacon(2)
and Winner progresses on schedule.
