TORONTO (AP) _ Yamana Gold Inc. (AUY) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $34.8 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Toronto-based company said it had profit of 4 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains and to account for discontinued operations, came to 1 cent per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 2 cents per share.
The gold mining company posted revenue of $466.5 million in the period.
Yamana Gold shares have more than tripled since the beginning of the year. The stock has nearly tripled in the last 12 months.
