24hGold - 2014 Themes

with Charles Hugh Smith & Gordon T Long
28 Minutes, 27 Slides

Charles Hugh Smith lays out his six Key Themes for 2014, the rationale for each and the ramifications.

1.      The Number One growth industry in the private sector will increasingly be lobbying the government for favors.

2.      The decline in local government services will accelerate as rising pension/ healthcare costs squeeze budgets.

3.      Credit creation will decline, removing the engine of expansion in a debt-dependent consumer economy.

4.      Middle class income, purchasing power and discretionary income will all continue to stagnate.

5.      The African oil exporting nations will move from the back-burner to the front ranks of geopolitical flash-points, joining the South China Sea, the Mideast and North Korea.

6.      The Federal government will quietly absorb the rising losses from defaulting student loans rather than reveal the bankruptcy of the entire Higher Education/Student Loan Cartel.

The conclusions are well founded and thought out, but alarming.
