L’Angola a traversé sa plus terrible période d’inflation entre 1991 et 1995.

Au début de l’année 1991, la plus grosse coupure angolaise était de 50 000 kwanzas. En 1994, elle était de 500 000 kwanzas. Après la réforme monétaire de 1995, un « kwanza reajustado » s’échangeait contre 1 000 kwanzas. En 1995, la plus grosse coupure était de 5 millions de kwanzas reajustados. Après la réforme monétaire de 1999, un nouveau kwanza s’échangeait contre un million de kwanzas reajustados.

Voilà donc l’impact global de l’hyperinflation : 1 nouveau kwanza = 1 000 000 000 kwanzas d’avant 1991.
