L’inflation s’est accélérée en Israël durant les années 1970, croissant constamment de 13% en 1971 à 111% en 1979. De 133% en 1980, elle passe d’un bond à 191% en 1983 puis 445% en 1984 et menace d’atteindre un nombre à 4 chiffres en l’espace d’un ou deux ans. En 1985, Israël  impose un gel des prix par décret et la même année l’inflation est divisée par deux, soit 185%.






Quelques mois plus tard, les autorités commencent à relever les prix de quelques articles dont le prix était précédemment gelé, en revanche pour d’autres produits, le processus a duré presque un an. En 1986, l’inflation était redescendue à 19%.
