Godly people are to fear God, not fear man:
Deu 31:6 Be strong
and courageous. Do
not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your
God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Luk 12:5 But I
will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed
hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Rev 14:11 "And the
smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or
night, who worship the beast [GOVERNMENT?] and his image, and
whoever receives the mark of his name."
Isa 8:12 "Do
not say, 'A conspiracy,' Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be
troubled.
Isa 8:13 The LORD of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your
fear, And let Him be your dread.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of
the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise
wisdom and instruction.
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
1Jo 4:18 There is no
fear in love; but perfect
love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that
feareth is not made perfect in love.
Pro 28:1 The wicked flee
when no one pursues, But the
righteous are bold as a lion.
Are we called to be kings and priests?
Rev 1:6 and has made us kings and priests to His God
and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.
Amen.
Rev 5:10 And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth."
Who has authority over all the earth?
1Pe 3:21 There is also
an antitype which now saves us -- baptism (not the removal of the filth of
the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the
resurrection of Jesus Christ,
1Pe 3:22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God,
angels and authorities
and powers having been made subject to Him.
Rev 1:5 and from Jesus
Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
Daniel 4:17 " 'The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones
declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over the
kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets
over them the lowliest of men.'
Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and
spoke to them, saying, "All
authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Heaven and on earth?
Dan 2:37 "You, O
king, are a King of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom,
power, strength, and glory
What authority has been
given to us as His children?
2Cr 10:8 For even if I should
boast somewhat more about our
authority, which the Lord gave us for edification and not for
your destruction, I shall not be ashamed --
2Cr 10:9 lest I seem to terrify you by letters.
2Cr 10:14 For we are not
overextending ourselves (as though our authority
did not extend to you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of
Christ;
1Cr 9:18 What is my
reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of
Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel.
Luk 9:1 Then He called
His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
Jhn 7:17 "If anyone
wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is
from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
Jhn 12:49 "For I
have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a
command, what I should say and what I should speak.
Act 9:14 "And here
he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your
name."
2Pe
2:7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct
of the wicked
2Pe 2:8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his
righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds--
2Pe 2:9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations
and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment
2Pe 2:10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the
lust of uncleanness and despise
authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not
afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
2Pe 2:11 whereas angels,
who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation
against them before the Lord.
So how did we end up with
Kings of the earth to rule over us?
Neh 9:17 They refused to obey, And
they were not mindful of Your wonders That You did among them. But they
hardened their necks, And
in their rebellion They appointed a leader To return to their bondage.
But You are God, Ready to pardon, Gracious and merciful, Slow to anger,
Abundant in kindness, And did not forsake them.
Ezr 5:12 "But
because our fathers provoked
the God of heaven to wrath, He gave them into the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this temple and
carried the people away to Babylon.
1Sa 8:10 So Samuel told
all the words of the LORD to the people who asked him for a king.
1Sa 8:11 And he said, "This will be the behavior of the king who
will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own
chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots.
1Sa 8:12 "He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains
over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and
some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.
1Sa 8:13 "He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and
bakers.
1Sa 8:14 "And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards,
and your olive groves, and give them to his servants.
1Sa 8:15 "He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and
give it to his officers and servants.
1Sa 8:16 "And he will take your male servants, your female
servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work.
1Sa 8:17 "He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his
servants.
1Sa 8:18 "And you will cry out in that day because of your king
whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear you in that
day."
1Sa 8:19 Nevertheless the people refused
to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, "No, but we will have a
king over us,
1Sa 8:20 "that
we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go
out before us and fight our battles."
What did they refuse to
obey? Were they lazy? Fearful? Where they afraid a Battle?
How ought we respond to Kings of the Earth who are sent by God to punish
disobedient people?
Dan 3:14 Nebuchadnezzar
spoke, saying to them, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego,
that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up?
Dan 3:16 Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar,
we have no need to answer
you in this matter.
Dan 3:28 Nebuchadnezzar
spoke, saying, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego,
who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they
have frustrated the
king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship
any god except their own God!
What would have happened to
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego if they had bowed to the authority of
Nebuchadnezzar the king?
Would God have saved them?
What about future
Governments?
Pro 29:2 When the
righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules,
the people groan.
Romans 13:1 Let every person
be in subjection to the governing authorities [Christ?] [Christ's people?]
[Liberty?].
Rev 13:5 And he was given
a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to
continue for forty-two months.
Rev 13:14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs
which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell
on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and
lived.
Rev 13:15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the
beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as
would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
Rev 13:16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and
slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,
Rev 13:17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or
the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the
number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.
Rev 17:12 "The ten
horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but
they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.
Are we supposed to obey
this authority, or do the saints war against it?
Rev 17:14 "These
will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord
of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen,
and faithful."
Daniel 7:21 As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people
and defeating them,
Rev 20:4 And I saw
thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I
saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for
the word of God, and which
had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his]
mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived
and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Why are these Martyrs
seemed to be blessed more than the ones who did not contend for the faith?
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy
is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has
no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign
with Him a thousand years.
What does Jesus
say will happen to this kind of authority, and all other kings?
Rev 17:13 "These are of one mind, and they will give their power
and authority to the beast.
Rev 20:10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where
the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be
tormented day and night for ever and ever.
What about taxes?
Luk 23:2 And they began
to accuse Him, saying, "We found this fellow perverting the nation, and
forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a
King."
Luk 23:3 Then Pilate asked Him, saying, "Are You the King of the
Jews?" He answered him and said, "It is as you say."
Luk 23:4 So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, "I find
no fault in this Man.
Mat 22:17 "Tell us,
therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or
not?"
Mat 22:21 They said to
Him, "Caesar's." And He said to them, "Render therefore to
Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are
God's."
What belongs to Caesar?
Hbr 13:8 Jesus Christ the
same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Exodus 20:15 You shall not steal.
What belongs to God?
Haggai 2:8 All silver and gold belong to me, [says the Lord God]
Psalm
24:1 The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they
that dwell therein.
Pro 3:9 Honor the LORD with your possessions,
And with the firstfruits of all your increase;
Is tax money tainted or cursed?
Psalms 68:30 (AMP) Rebuke the wild beasts dwelling among the reeds [in
Egypt], the herd of bulls (the leaders) with the calves of the peoples; trample underfoot those who lust for
tribute money; scatter the peoples who delight in war.
Proverbs 1:18 These men lie in
wait for their own blood; they ambush only themselves!
19 Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the
life of those who get it.
Do we trust the Lord?
Hbr 10:22 Let us draw near
with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled
from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Jhn 4:23 But the hour
cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in
spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Ezr 7:24 Also we certify
you, that touching any of the priests
and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll,
tribute, or custom, upon them.
Mar 2:16 And when the
scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to
His disciples, "How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors
and sinners?"
Mar 2:17 When Jesus heard [it], he saith unto them, They that are whole have
no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the
righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Why is a tax collector
considered in need of repentance along with sinners?
Mat 18:17 "And if he
refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear
the church, let him be to you like a
heathen and a tax collector.
Luk 18:10 "Two men
went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
Luk 18:11 "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I
thank You that I am not like other men--extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or
even as this tax collector.
Luk 18:12 'I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'
Luk 18:13 "And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so
much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be
merciful to me a sinner!'
Luk 18:14 "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified
rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and
he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Mat 17:24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received
tribute [money] came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
Mat 17:25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus
prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the
earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
Did Peter answer for Jesus
and assume he knew the answer?
Mat 17:26 Peter saith
unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
Who's Children are we?
Rom 8:16 The Spirit
Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
Mat 17:27
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an
hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened
his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them
for me and thee.
Luk 3:11 He answereth
and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath
none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
Luk 3:12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him,
Master, what shall we do?
Luk 3:13 And he said unto them, Exact
no more than that which is appointed you.
Luk 3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what
shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse
[any] falsely; and be content with your wages.
Luk 23:1 Then the whole
multitude of them arose and led Him to Pilate.
Luk 23:2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found this
fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying
that He Himself is Christ, a King."
Luk 23:3 Then Pilate asked Him, saying, "Are You the King of the
Jews?" He answered him and said, "It is as you say."
Luk 23:4 So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, "I find
no fault in this Man."
What about the free and the slave?
1Cr 7:21 Were you called
while a slave? Do not be concerned about it; but if you can be made free,
rather use it.
Eph 6:8 knowing that
whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he
is a slave or free.
1 Corinthians 7:23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of
human beings.
What about Honor?
Psa 104:1 BLESS the LORD,
O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and
majesty,
Lev 19:15 'You shall do
no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the
person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.
Deu 26:19 "and that He
will set you high above all nations which He has made, in praise, in name,
and in honor,
and that you may be a
holy people to the LORD your God, just as He has
spoken."
Psa 149:9 To execute on them the written
judgment-- This honor have all His saints. Praise the LORD!
1Pe 2:17 Honor all people. Love
the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor
the king.
How do we honor to the
kings of the earth?
Est
4:13 And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: "Do not think in your
heart that you will escape in the king's palace any more than all the other
Jews.
Est 4:14 "For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief
and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your
father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the
kingdom for such a time as this?"
Proverbs 22:29
Do you see a man skilled in his work? He
will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure
men.
Matthew 10:
17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they
will scourge you in their synagogues;
18 And ye shall be
brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against
them and the Gentiles.
19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak:
for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh
in you.
2 Timothy 3:12 (NIV)
In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
Mark
10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man
that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife,
or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
Mark 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and
brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and
in the world to come eternal life.
1Ti 6:17 Command those who are
rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches
but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
1Ti 6:18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to
give, willing to share,
1Ti 6:19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to
come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
1Ti 6:20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the
profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called
knowledge--
1Ti 6:21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace
be with you. Amen.
Act 15:29 that you
abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and
from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.
Farewell.
