Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) ‘s IPO today has minted a new batch of billionaire and millionaire twenty and thirty-somethings. Twitter, a bunch of computer code and servers, is a remarkably useless invention. It is arguably worse than useless, as it gives voice to people who can’t mumble more than a stream-of-thought comment about anything without showing their absence of literary ability thanks to the 140-character limitation. At the end of the day, Twitter is aptly named, because now any twit can tweet the mindless thought of the moment to any other mindless twat who’s got nothing better to do than communicate virtually.

If this sounds like sour grapes because I don’t own any Twitter stock, it absolutely is. But at the risk of marking myself an obsolete cretin, I eschew the support of such technological flash-in-the-pan “innovations” on principle.

Once again confirming the symptomatic deterioration of America and Americans, something that is nothing is valued exponentially greater than everything worth something. Real people making real things are starving because successive generations of over-educated yet illiterate computer gamers get paid billions for coming up with yet another way to blurt meaningless diatribe to millions with the touch of a button. Meanwhile, out in the American countryside, those returned from warfare abroad to find themselves either undervalued or worse, inconvenient for having left some of their body parts back in the country they were supposedly defending the Homeland from, are simmering and stewing and discussing ways to take back America. Armed revolution is bubbling away beneath the sterilized reality projected on HBO, ABC and uh oh of course, Twitter.

Sane folks increasingly turn their backs on Fortune 500 media sources and just try to live the best life possible, not wishing to risk what fleeting happiness is available by tending studiously to home fires with association with any group that might effect meaningful change. At this point, we blame the domestic attacks that are steadily increasing in public places on either external religious radicals or else mental instability. Yet each day, more people are picking up weapons and shooting to death those they’ve never met in the most profound expression of frustration available to them.

One could argue that humanity is in transformation, and those born without certain neuro-chemical and genetic programming are destined for the fringes before they’ve even left the womb. You must 1) buy into whatever superficiality is projected by the mainstream media (including twitter); 2) Prioritize money above family and honour; 3) Howl on cue in outrage at the enemies designated by the state-sponsred mainstream media.

Those who don’t will be marginalized, incarcerated or just disposed of until they lose their marbles and are shot while shooting innocents.

This is the view from space. An objective extra-planetary observer would have no choice but to conclude that this iteration of the life force in the form of humanity is doomed to a rapidly approaching but well deserved extinction. While ecosystems collapse and the world population continues to expand at a relentless pace, we invent new ways to distract ourselves with ever more vacuous modes of communication, collectively and narcissistically oblivious to our progress downward.

I would tweet this to my few hundred followers on Twitter, but its a bit verbose for that medium. And increasingly, this is a message that nobody wants to hear anyway. Now back to the party! Twitter is a double on its first day!
