Please consider Theresa May Indicates UK Will Leave Single Market.

Theresa May has indicated that Britain will leave the EU single market as she set out her determination to strike a post-Brexit trading deal that allows her to control immigration from the rest of Europe.

Mrs May said she was not interested in trying to “keep bits of membership” of the EU, rather that she wanted a bespoke British deal with the rest of Europe that delivered “the best possible deal for UK companies”.

The prime minister’s allies admit the EU will not allow Britain to stay a member of the single market, given that Mrs May has already said that controlling immigration and ending European Court of Justice jurisdiction were red lines.

Mrs May will trigger the Article 50 exit clause before the end of March and is expected to set out her broad negotiating aims at that point, with officials eyeing a hybrid trade deal, combining elements of the single market and customs union.

Boris Johnson Meets Trump Team

In an effort to build ties with the new US administration, UK Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson Met with the Trump Team in New York.

Boris Johnson, the UK foreign secretary, has held talks in New York with senior members of Donald Trump’s team on Sunday as part of a concerted British effort to build ties with the new US administration.

Mr Johnson clashed with Mr Trump in 2015 after the president-elect claimed Islamists had made parts of London “no-go zones”; the former London mayor said he would not go to parts of New York because of “the real risk of meeting Donald Trump”.

But Mr Johnson put those reservations aside to hold for meetings with Mr Trump’s inner team including Steve Bannon, chief strategist, and Jared Kushner, the president-elect’s son-in-law. There had been speculation he might meet Mr Trump himself, but the encounter never came to pass.

The talks covered foreign policy issues and will have helped prepare for Mrs May’s visit to the White House, expected next month. On Monday Mr Johnson will meet Congressional leaders in Washington, including Speaker Paul Ryan, Senator Bob Corker and Senator Mitch McConnell.

Trump Interviews Brexit Supporter as U.S. Envoy to EU

Meanwhile, from the US side, Trump Interviews Brexit Supporter as U.S. Envoy to EU.

A professor who backed the U.K.’s decision to leave the European Union was interviewed for the job to become President-elect Donald Trump’s ambassador to the bloc, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Ted Malloch was recommended for the position by Nigel Farage, a political rival to U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May, and discussed the job with Trump’s team, according to the newspaper, citing an interview with the professor. Malloch didn’t immediately respond to a voicemail and e-mail on Sunday.

Obama Wrong Again

Please recall president Obama’s personally visited the UK on behalf of “Remain”. Shortly thereafter, support for “Leave” surged.

Obama also stated Britain would be “at the back of the queue” to secure a trade deal with the U.S.

Trump told Nigel Farage that Britain would be “at the front.”

Obama was wrong again.
