Because so many people are dependents of the current system by way of benefits, social security, medicare, WIC, etc., even some of the staunchest conservatives and libertarians when it comes down to it are unwilling to do what is necessary to clean up the mess. It will take a complete and total failure before rebuilding can take place. Unfortunately this is what the extreme left and radical socialists are hoping will happen since they can blame the failure on capitalism and rebuild the country into a socialist utopia.

He's right. Collapse will happen and it will not be pretty.
