Lincoln did NOT end slavery. Slavery wasn't even the issue until 1863 when support for the civil war was flagging in the north. The Emancipation Proclamation had no power of law. Consider it as an executive decision.

XIIIth Amendment was ratified 6 Dec 1865 but the story didn't end there. In order for the southern states to get back their seats in the House of Representatives, the rebel states had to ratify the war-time amendments. In other words, the southern states had to ratify under duress aka threat of arms again. During this time, bureaucrats commonly known as carpetbaggers financially raped the southern states, imposed regulations that the northern states would have NEVER permitted up north.

The civil war issue was over exportation of cotton and importation of European manufactured machinery.

Lincoln was one of the worse POTUSes this nation has ever had to endure.

It is time for you to read some history. You will find that during the Lincoln-Douglas debates, Lincoln went on record as favoring slavery and stated he would NOT end slavery. Both Lincoln and Douglas were lawyers for the same railroad; Illinois Central if I recall correctly.

Lincoln was NOT a hero.
