Disenfranchised. One word is all that is needed to explain the violence. The single common denominator for all perpetrators of school violence is their disenfranchisement. Just as a citizen is not going to pick up a gun and start his own revolution if he has a house, car, job, color tv, and can provide food and clothe his family; neither is a student going to pick up a gun and shoot a dozen people if [s]he is accepted socially and offered a healthy environment with positive reinforcement and a clear path to success with a better life based on a moral compass and proper work ethic in a society that dependably rewards such behavior.
