En soi une bombe électromagnétique ne fait pas beaucoup de dégâts apparents mais les collatéraux sont gigantesques :
prenons l'exemple d'une centrale nucléaire
- la destruction des régulateurs et des sécurités de pénétration des barreaux d'uranium permet à ceux-ci d'entrer en divergence accélérée, la suite est catastrophique (sauf à prévoir un système de retrait des barreaux en l'absence de courant (vérins, ressorts, contre-poids . . .)
