It would seem to me that Mr. Casey, having referenced evolution, has failed to note the obvious. And that would be that whether we are looking at government or biology, organisms become ever more complex. If the nation-state is to be relegated to the dustbin of history, it would appear more likely to be replaced with a body that governs the entire planet.
I would also note that not all who govern us are evil and corrupt, though they would certainly seem to be in the majority. For example, I do not believe Nelson Mandela became President of South Africa for the wrong reasons or that the Emir of Qatar is out for his own personal gain. However, if Mr. Casey is correct that government " itself is hopelessly flawed and necessarily corrupts the people that compose it", it is a problem easily enough corrected by limiting to one term of modest duration the time any person can be in government.
