Serra do Navio is located in Amapa State, 195 km northwest from Port Santana, Brazil.

History of the Serra do Navio Project |
The Serra do Navio manganese mine was operated by Industria e Comercio de Minieros SA (ICOMI) from 1957 until closure in 1997, producing a reported 34Mt of commercialised products. The manganese was mined from 18 open pits located along a 9km northwest stratigraphic trend.

The manganese comprises two types of mineralized material, an upper zone of enriched oxide mineralization grading 36% to 52% Mn, which is underlain by lower grade manganese rich carbonate protore that ranges in grade from 28% to 42%.
