The Matapedia North block is situated in a tectonic zone showing major thrust faults which caused uplift of the Upper Ordovician formations in the central part of the Connecticut Valley - Gaspe Synclinorium, whose main structure, the Causapscal Anticline, runs WSW- ENE across the southern part of the block.
