The area has been subject to previous exploration for gold and diamonds. Palaeozoic Canning Basin sediments overlap onto upper Proterozoic rocks within the project.

Geology of the Carnegie Project |
|
The property is located in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, which is composed mainly of meta-volcanic rocks cut by faults and deformation zones that lie in a northwest to southeast direction. There are also many suites of mafic volcanic rocks.
