They are manufactured to order and it can take 12-24 months depending on size.
Now imagine hundreds, perhaps thousands being ordered after a direct hit from a massive CME.

What to do?
Electric utility companies would have no option but to relocate operational transformers to central core areas.
Over a few months, high priority commercial and government facilities would get re-electrified. Residential areas - not gonna happen this week and next year doesn't look so good either.
Of course this is dependent upon the generation facilities being operational.

Now the bad news.
Where is the money gonna come from to buy the replacements?
