With all this talk surrounding gold and silver price manipulation it would be nice for those in the gold and silver community to cease the bickering about whether or not manipulation is driving prices and focus on things that impact us all.

Sure there might be manipulation involved to some degree. However, the performance of silver or gold prices doesn't impact us in our every day lives.

If we want to point to how a manipulated environment affects our day to day lives then we need look no further than the oil market and more specifically the gasoline market.

I'm speaking as a Canadian here. A citizen of a country that holds the world's second most oil reserves. I live in a nation that can clearly satisfy our own oil needs with our own output. However we continue to be impacted by the bull shit refinery excuses that pop up at the most convenient of times.
Last night we were warned that gas prices would rise by an average of 4 cents a litre. The lineups at the gas stations near my home resembled the lines we see in those end of days movies where gas shortages abound.

Average prices today ranged from $1.30 to $1.40 per litre. It's absurd considering oil is $40 less than it was the last time we saw such prices.

This form of manipulation that starts with the oil companies who in large part own the refineries impacts all our lives. (I sympathize with Europeans who pay double or triple that price).

There is no reason as to why we should be paying pump prices that were last seen near oil's peak.

The end result is that we face increased food costs due to increased transportation costs. We face greater shipping fees, we are hit with fuel surcharges and it costs us more to drive to work and home again while our incomes remain stagnant.

The price of silver or gold impacts nobody in their daily lives. It affects investments and serves only to pad our egos when we get it right. It doesn't mean a thing when it comes down to what matters; providing for our families.

It would be wise for all of us to pick our battles and use this energy to fight the real thieves (oil companies) who continue to reap record profits at our expense. Yet, we bitch about day to day moves in precious metals while we suck it up and fill our tanks with over-priced gasoline.

Let's get our priorities straight.
