Northern Tiger Resources completes 2008 Drill Program, Sonora
Gulch Property, Yukon
=======================================================================
August 21, 2008: Northern Tiger Resources Inc. (NTR:TSX-V) is pleased
to announce completion of the summer, 2008 diamond drilling program on
the Company's Sonora Gulch gold-silver-copper property located 110 km
northwest of Carmacks, Yukon Territory, Canada. The program consisted
of 2,238.3 metres of diamond drilling in 10 holes testing three major
target areas. The property, 100% owned by Northern Tiger Resources
Inc., is located within 25 kilometres of a seasonal access road and
within 40 kilometers of Sherwood Copper's Minto copper-gold mine
project, now in production.
"We are very pleased that the 2008 drilling was completed on-schedule,"
says Greg Hayes, President of Northern Tiger. "We targeted previous
successes including the high-grade gold Amaedus Zone in addition to
exciting new areas including the highly mineralized Nightmusic Zone.
While continuing to process drill core and conduct detailed surface
exploration on the Sonora property, the field crew is also working on
regional exploration in the Dawson Range through our Exploration
Alliance with Minto Explorations Ltd., a subsidiary of Sherwood Copper
Corp."
A drill hole location map is available at www.northern-tiger.com, in
addition to a fact sheet, property photographs and previous news
releases. Assay results are pending.
Amadeus Zone
Three holes totaling 1,004.3 metres targeted the Amadeus Zone in the
vicinity of Holes SG-06-06, which returned 6.21 g/t gold across 15.3
metres, open at depth (see news release dated Jan. 15, 2007), and
SG-07-12, which returned 1.0 g/t gold across 64.0 metres. Drill hole
specifications were decided upon following a detailed 42 line km
surface magnetometer survey performed by TerraNotes Ltd of Edmonton,
Alberta. A follow-up 3.6 line km Induced Polarization geophysical
survey testing the Amadeus Zone is nearing completion.
Nightmusic Zone
The Nightmusic Zone (formerly called the "Ultramafic Zone") was the
target of six holes totaling 1,010 metres, increased from the three
holes originally slated due to highly mineralized drill core. This
zone was chosen as a major focus due to the recognition that an
east-west trending ultramafic sill may have been a major influence on
deposition of mineralization.
Jupiter Anomaly
The Jupiter anomaly was the target of a single 224.0 metre hole
collared about 240 metres west of previously drilled holes.
Sonora Gulch Surface Program and Regional Exploration Update
Exploration programs targeting the Sonora Gulch property and
"Minto-style" copper-gold mineralization have been conducted or are
ongoing on several other Northern Tiger properties in the Dawson Range
area. The programs consist of property-scale soil and silt
geochemistry, geological mapping and prospecting designed to develop
targets for follow-up work. This season's program is expected to be
completed by the end of August.
This News Release has been reviewed and approved by Carl Schulze, BSc,
PGeo, Qualified Person for the property, in accordance with regulations
under National Instrument 43-101. All samples are being analyzed by
ALS Chemex labs of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
