TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - Orvana Minerals Corp. (News - Market indicators), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Empresa Minera Paititi ("EMIPA"), is pleased to announce production has started atits new leaching–precipitation–flotation ("LPF") plant at its Don Mario Mine, Upper Mineralized Zone ("UMZ"), in Bolivia.
"We have already stockpiled over 200,000 tonnes of ore from the UMZ. Since the initial production will be in higher-grade ore, in the first few years we expect to produce significantly more copper, gold and silver than the average annualized production over the life of the mine." said Carlos Mirabal, President and Chief Operating Officer of Orvana.
"We congratulate the entire team at EMIPA on the commencement of production. The team completed this project under the budget of US$20 million. While we did have some delays in the permitting and construction of the sulphuricacid plant, we will now be able to benefit from strong copper, gold and silver prices, all of which is unhedged" emphasized Roland Horst, CEO of Orvana.
