Antofagasta plc announces the appointment of Iván Arriagada as
Chief Executive Officer of Antofagasta Minerals
[London and Santiago, 3 December 2014] - Antofagasta PLC today announces that Iván Arriagada Herrera has been named as the CEO of Antofagasta Minerals, the mining division of the Group, with effect from 16 February 2015.
Iván Arriagada, 51, has served as Vice President of Administration and Finance at Codelco since 2012. Prior to that, he held various positions at BHP Billiton, including President at Pampa Norte, Vice President of Production for the Base Metals division, and Chief Financial Officer for the Base Metals division.
Mr Arriagada spent a large part of his career in the crude oil industry with Royal Dutch Shell International, working in the Finance, Business, and Project Development divisions with postings in the United Kingdom, Argentina and the United States. He has also served on the boards of Sonami, Consejo Minero and Fundación Chile.
Mr Arriagada graduated as a commercial engineer from Universidad Federico Santa María's Adolfo Ibañez Business School. He holds a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics.
Mr Diego Hernández, CEO of Antofagasta plc said "Iván has a long and distinguished career, both in Chile and abroad, and he will greatly contribute to Antofagasta Minerals operations with his experience and skills.
