Vancouver, B.C. -- January 21, 2009 -- Staccato Gold Resources Ltd. (CAT-TSX.V) is pleased to announce final assay results from its 2008 South Eureka exploration program. Exploration was conducted on the Windfall Patents project, North Lookout Mountain project, and the South Ratto Ridge project during the program. All three projects lie within the extensive South Eureka property.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Four holes intersected strong mineralization at the Windfall Patents project: 22.9 metres of 5.25 g/t (75 feet of 0.153 opt) gold intersected, including 1.52 metres of 52.11 g/t (5 feet of 1.53 opt) gold
- North Lookout Mountain project: 38.1 metres of 0.96 g/t (125 feet of 0.028 opt) gold intersected
- South Adit area: several thick, strongly altered structural zones intersected at depth
Windfall Patents Project
Drilling at the Windfall Patents project targeted the north striking Windfall fault zone below the Windfall pit. Based on historic data, areas of known mineralization were targeted to confirm the presence of gold, define gold grade, and test the depth extent of the mineralization. All 4 holes drilled intersected strong mineralization over significant thicknesses, including 22.9 metres of 5.25 g/t (75 feet of 0.153 opt) gold that was drilled 91 metres (300 feet) below pit bottom in hole BHWF-04 (See Table 1 below). Future exploration drilling campaigns will continue to test the extensive and prospective Windfall structural zone along strike and at depth. The Windfall project is located approximately 4 kilometres north-east of the main Lookout Mountain resource area.
North Lookout Mountain
Drilling at the North Lookout Mountain project followed up on historic intercepts drilled in the 1990's, and encountered 38.1 metres of 0.96 g/t (125 feet of 0.028 opt) gold in hole BHSE-021 and two intercepts: 3.1 metres of 0.68 g/t (10.3 feet of 0.020 opt) and 5.8 metres of 1.11 g/t (19 feet of 0.032 opt), within a large altered structural zone in core hole BHSE-025C. Both drill holes tested areas beneath historic drill holes, and targeted northerly striking structures that occur east of the main Lookout Mountain -- Ratto Ridge structural zone (See Table 1 below). Further exploration is required to assess the potential of this extensive area.
South Ratto (South Adit) Project
Results from the core drilling at the South Adit area contained several thick, strongly altered structural zones at depth (See Table 1 below). The first phase of drill results reported earlier identified sufficient mineralization to conduct the first resource estimate in this area.
Table 1 below shows the balance of the results for the 2008 exploration program. Please refer to the November 20, 2008 press release for previously reported results, and refer to Staccato's website for a detailed drill hole plan map.

* Drill hole thickness Cyanide Shake Leach Results
Assays received with gold grades above 0.343 g/t (0.01 opt) gold were analyzed using a cyanide shake leach analyses, which provides a preliminary assessment of cyanide leachable recoveries. Results, shown in the Table 2 below, indicate good recovery potential at the South Adit area and average recovery potential at the North Lookout Mountain and Windfall Patents projects. Results at the South Adit area show recoveries for all results to be over 90%, while at the Pinnacle Peak and Triple Junction targets, and at North Lookout Mountain and Windfall projects recoveries average about 70%. A progression at the North Lookout Mountain project from 85% or higher potential recoveries at shallower depths to under 50% at greater depth is noted in drill hole BHSE-021. Lower potential recoveries are probably due to sulfide mineralization.

All assays for the program were performed by Inspectorate America Corporation, an ISO 9001 certified assay lab. Drill samples were analyzed for gold using a Fire Assay method with an ICP-AES finish on a 30 gram aliquot. All analyses containing 0.343 g/t (0.01 opt) gold or greater were analyzed using a hot cyanide leach with an AA finish. Check assays on significant intercepts will be completed by ALS Chemex Laboratories, an ISO 9001 certified laboratory.
The South Eureka property encompasses an area of approximately 43 square kilometres (27 square miles) and is comprised of several projects. The property is located in the Eureka Mining district within the Battle Mountain - Eureka Trend, also referred to as the Cortez Trend. Barrick's Archimedes (Ruby Hill) mine is located approximately 7.2 kilometres (4.5 miles) north of the Staccato claim area. The South Eureka property has a history of gold production from several open pits including the Windfall Mine, one of Nevada's first open pit heap leach mines. Historic production from the district totals in excess of 2 million ounces of gold.
