PRESS RELEASE
Four uranium zones over 4.7 kilometres at Ashini
Rimouski,
September 26, 2007 – Stripping operations at the Ashini property in
Quebec, 100% owned by Ressources Appalaches (APP-TSXV), have so far
identified four zones of uranium mineralization over a north-south distance of 4.7 kilometres.
These zones consist of a number of veins of uranium-bearing pegmatite.
The main zone
has been excavated over an area of 500 m by 350 m (see press release of July 10, 2007). It consists
of a dense network of pegmatite veins. Five of the samples taken yielded grades
ranging from 0.05% to 0.082% U, and 25 samples covering the whole zone gave
grades of from 0.01% to 0.048% U.
The discovery
of three other pegmatite veins carrying uranium on the south side of the
property extends the mineralization to a total distance of 4.7 kilometres. The
grades of selected samples range from 0.011% to 0.023% U.
Farther north,
the best selected samples from two other zones excavated in 2006 contained
0.13% and 0.22% U respectively.
These four
zones are parallel to a major geologic structure more than 50 kilometres in
length, marked by a strong magnetic signature. All of these
zones are open both laterally and in depth.
According to
the President, Andr
Proulx, “The potential for the discovery of a vast
uranium zone at surface is becoming increasingly apparent in this district.
Appalaches' objective is therefore to expand the zones already known, and to
continue surface exploration throughout the property, to indicate the scope of
this deposit."
The samples
were analyzed for multiple elements at the ALS Chemex laboratory in Val d’Or, using the
atomic absorption and ICP techniques. The contents of this press release were prepared
