NEWS RELEASE
Sibley Basin Property Update
Based on the field results of 2007 drilling (announced in press release of November 8, 2007, titled ?Gravity West Drills Massive Sulphides at Voltai re?), a follow-up ground geophysical survey program has been initiated to better define further drilling targets in the area of drill holes 3A, 4 an d 5.
A Line Cutting crew has been mobilized and working at the site, which will be followed by ground EM and gravity surveys.
Once that data is compiled, drill targets will be chosen and drilling will commence immediately.
Gravity West core photos posted to company website
Management of Gravity West Mining Corp. ( TSX-V: GRW) is pleased to announ ce that pictures of the core samples of initial drilling holes 3A, 4 and 5 , previously announced November 8, 2007, have been posted to the company w ebsite www.gravitywestmining.com
The November 8, 2007 news release announced the results of the first phase of diamond drilling on the company?s Voltaire Lake property in the Sibley basin, 150 kilometres north of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Drill holes have in tersected massive sulphides including chalcopyrite in unmapped basement roc ks that are buried under a cover of Sibley sediments and a diabase sill. The basement geology that has been revealed contains environments that are favourable for gold, volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) and nickel-copper PGE mineralization.
Five diamond drill holes totalling 1,203 metres were drilled to test a grou p of conductors defined by a VTEM airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey carried out over the 73,000 acre Voltaire Lake property in the summe r of 2007. All five holes cut through a diabase sill, followed by Sibley g roup sediments, and entered basement rocks at vertical depths between 70 an d 100 metres. The basement rocks are Archean age metavolcanics, metasedime nts and intrusives belonging to the Garden Lake greenstone belt.
Diamond drill hole VL07-03A intersected intrusive rocks including diorite, gabbro and pyroxenite from the Sibley unconformity at 81 metres to the end of the hole at 215 metres. The 12-metre pyroxenite section was mineralized with disseminated to net-textured sulphides, mainly pyrrhotite. This geol ogical environment is favourable for nickel-copper and/or PGE mineralizatio n.
Basement rocks in drill hole VL07-04 consisted of metasediments, diorite, g ranodiorite and a 5 metre section of a heavily altered (garnet and biotite are the main alteration minerals) volcanic rock with disseminated to massiv e pyrrhotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite. The aluminous alteration mineralogy suggests an environment favourable to shallow-water VMS mineralization sim ilar to that found at the Sturgeon Lake mining camp, 115 kilometres to the west, where four separate mines operating from 1973 to 1991 produced over 1 8 million tonnes of Zn-Cu-Pb-Ag-Au ore.
In drill hole VL05-05 the basement rocks included 37 metres of gabbro with disseminated sulphides including minor chalcopyrite, followed by 4 metres o f agglomerate, 9 metres of quartz-feldspar porphyry and 45 metres of felsic tuff, most of which is silicified. The porphyry has been chloritized and contains disseminated pyrite with minor chalcopyrite. The felsic tuff cont ains disseminated to stringery sulphides throughout with a 12 metre section that shows extreme silicification and contains six separate short sections of massive pyrrhotite and pyrite with local splashes of chalcopyrite. The geology indicates a favourable environment for VMS-type base metal mineral ization, as well as volcanogenic and/or epigenetic gold.
Samples from these three drill holes have been split and sent for assay.
Derrick Strickland, PGeo, a qualified person under National Instrument 43-1 01, has approved the technical content of this news release.
Management is still awaiting assay results from drill core sent to the lab.
Gravity West Appoints New Vice-President Exploration
Gravity West Mining Corp. (TSX-V: GRW ) is pleased to announce that Afzaal Pirzada, a professional geologist has joined the company as Vice- President Exploration.
