Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. ('Avalon') is pleased to report that it has placed among Corporate Knights' 2016 Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leaders in Canada, from a shortlist of 107 eligible small and mid-cap organizations. This is the second consecutive year Avalon has ranked as a Future Responsible Corporate Leader.
Don Bubar, Avalon's President and CEO, commented, 'Once again, this is well-earned recognition for everyone at Avalon and the sustainability culture we have developed'.
Avalon is fully committed to integrating sustainable practices into its business model and is a leader among junior mineral development companies in adopting best practices to reduce its environmental footprint, protect water resources and engage with local communities. Avalon believes that making sustainability a priority enhances shareholder value by reducing risk for all stakeholders and optimizing opportunities for individual and community prosperity.
The company has reported annually on its sustainability performance since 2011. Avalon's current 2015 Sustainability Report, entitled Balancing Opportunities, can be found along with past reports at www.AvalonAdvancedMaterials.com/sustainability/sustainability_reporting/.
Avalon placed 34th in 2016 and 17th in 2015. Bubar added, 'The competition is getting tougher, which is good to see, as it clearly reflects increased awareness among small cap companies about the benefits of strong sustainability performance. It is especially positive to see 13 mineral industry companies ranked in the top 40 this year, compared to 8 in 2015.'
