JOINT ASX / MEDIA RELEASE
5 June 2009
Ausdrill Limited (ASX: ASL) today officially opened its new, state-of-the-art Manufacturing Division premises in Canning Vale, WA.
The new premises house Drilling Tools Australia and Remet Engineers which form Ausdrill?s Manufacturing Division. The division manufactures drilling consumables both internally for the Ausdrill group, and increasingly to the broader resources sector.
Ausdrill Chairman, Terry O'Connor said due to rapid expansion, the Manufacturing Division has fast outgrown its original premises, hence the establishment of a larger, purpose-built factory in Ausdrill?s Canning Vale complex.
?We have commissioned the new Canning Vale facility at a cost of more than $20 million. The facility was intended to be the flagship location for the Manufacturing Division of the Ausdrill Ltd Group and we are delighted to have achieved such quality of workmanship and design that the premises have been nominated for a 2009 Master Builders Award for Excellence in Construction,? Mr O?Connor said.
?Our facility is a finalist in the Industrial Design category, with the winners to be announced on 4 July.
State-of-the-art Equipment
?We have installed new, hi tech equipment including three new multi-tasking lathes with robotic loading and unloading capabilities.
?With a total of nine multi-task machines, six of which have robotic loading and unloading capabilities, we believe Ausdrill?s facility is one of the most advanced manufacturing centres in Australia.
?The new premises and equipment will greatly bolster the capacity of the Manufacturing Division to significantly increase production and the sale of consumables to third parties including mining companies and contractors.
?We remain optimistic about the future of WA?s resources sector and are confident that this investment in our Manufacturing Division is well-timed. We believe manufacturing will make a substantial contribution to Ausdrill?s profit going forward,? said Mr O?Connor.
